2011 Australia New Zealand Organic Wine Show Results

The 2011 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show, held via closed judging on the 26 and 27 September in Sydney, has once again shown there are some great organic and biodynamic vineyards producing some fabulous wines.

This boutique show, now in its 7th year, is establishing itself as a great benchmark for fully certified organic and biodynamic wines. Out of the 134 entries, 66 were awarded medals. 36 vineyards were represented from across Australia and New Zealand.

Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show 2011

2009 Organic Wine Show Judging Welcome to the 2011 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show – the only annual Organic Wine Show dedicated to the judging and promotion of certified organic wines from Australia and New Zealand.

The show, now in its 7th year, will take place as a closed judging on 26 & 27 September in Sydney. It will be a showcase of the diversity, regionality, originality and quality of organic wines, aimed at helping the organic wine sector carve a larger niche for itself in the shelves of the wine trade and in the knowledge base of wine connoisseurs.

In 2011 a panel of qualified Judges will be led by Max Allen – Chief Judge: Max is Australia’s most widely-published wine writer; wine columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine, wine editor for Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine and a regular contributor to many other consumer and trade magazines. Max has written many books on wine and has judged at various Australian wine competitions; he is also Chief Judge of the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura.

History of the Show

The creation of an organic wine show was the long held dream of Sam Statham, owner and producer of Rosnay Organic Wines. He believed that organic and biodymanic wines should have a benchmark to be measured against and one that was in-keeping with conventional wines. Sam's idea was turned into reality over a cup of coffee with Lena and Mary of Smeaton Hackett Events , creators and organisers of the Organic Expo, and so the Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show was born.
