Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show 2010

2009 Organic Wine Show JudgingWelcome to the 2010 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show – the only annual Organic Wine Show dedicated to the judging and promotion of certified organic wines from Australia and New Zealand.

The show, now in its sixth year, will take place as a closed judging on 19 August in Sydney.  Then on Friday 20 it will host Australia’s largest trade tasting of organic wines, ever!, at the Organic Expo & Green Show plus there will be a display of all the wines entered into the show, to create maximum impact.  It will be a showcase of the diversity, regionality, originality and quality of organic wines, aimed at helping the organic wine sector carve a larger niche for itself in the shelves of the wine trade and in the knowledge base of wine connoisseurs.

In 2010 a panel of qualified Judges will be led by Max Allen – Chief Judge: Max is Australia’s most widely-published wine writer; wine columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine, wine editor for Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine and a regular contributor to many other consumer and trade magazines. Max has written many books on wine and has judged at various Australian wine competitions; he is also Chief Judge of the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura.

The Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show committee encourages wine producers to take part as a show of force and of things to come from the organic wine industry.  Entries are now being sought with a closing date of Friday 30 July (wine is shipped after the receipt of your labels only and is to arrive no later than Friday 13 August).  An entry form is attached together with the terms and conditions of the show.  Please retain your own copy of this form as your tax invoice.

The 2009 Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show

The Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show is the only annual organic wine show dedicated to the judging and promotion of certified organic and biodymanic wines from Australia and New Zealand.

Showcasing the diversity, regionality and quality of organic wines, it aims to help the organic wine sector carve a larger niche for itself in the shelves of the wine trade and in the knowledge base of wine connoisseurs.

History of the Show

The creation of an organic wine show was the long held dream of Sam Statham, owner and producer of Rosnay Organic Wines. He believed that organic and biodymanic wines should have a benchmark to be measured against and one that was in-keeping with conventional wines. Sam's idea was turned into reality over a cup of coffee with Lena and Mary of Smeaton Hackett Events , creators and organisers of the Organic Expo, and so the Australia / New Zealand Organic Wine Show was born.
